April 2007 News

Course News:
The Links at Hiawatha Landing is now OPEN and we have ALL 18 holes open and ready for play. We are looking forward to a tremendous 2007 golfing season. We were able to pull the covers off the greens earlier this week, and they are in great shape. Our practice facility is also open, so please stop by, hit a bag of balls and take the rust off. The Pro shop hours will be 7:30 am to 7:00 pm 7 days of the week.

Some of our equipment for this new year has arrived, so stop by and check out the new inventory or possibly try one of our demo clubs on the range.

All proceeds will go directly towards the junior golf program that gives all our junior participants a "Chance to Play"!

We would like to inform you that we will be having Demo Days in the Spring for PING, Titleist, Cobra and Mizuno. It's always nice to try out the new equipment before purchasing. Titleist and Mizuno Demo Day is tentatively scheduled for: Sat., May 12th 9:00am - 12:00pm. Ping Demo Day scheduled for: May 17th 3:00pm - 6:00pm.

Don't forget about The Links at Hiawatha Landing's rewards program. The more rounds of golf you play at The Links, the more points earned for Free Golf. Pick up a loyalty card once you start playing in 2007.

Don't forget about The Skycaddie. The Skycaddie is a handheld GPS Device to measure yardage. It's simple to use and will help you play better and faster. We have them to demo and are for sale in the Pro Shop at a reduced price.

Golf Tip of the Month:
PRE-SWING FUNDAMENTALS - Grip, Posture, Ball Position and Alignment

GRIP - Look to make sure your V's line-up. You would like to see the V's formed from your thumbs & forefingers on both hands to be pointing more towards your right shoulder (right-handed players). The grip should be more in your fingers than your palms.

POSTURE - you need to put your body in a position so it can turn properly. Have some tilt in your spine (back) as you address the ball. Have more of your weight towards the balls of your feet.

BALL POSITION - for your irons, the ball position should be towards the center of your stance and for the longer clubs, it should be just inside your left heel.

ALIGNMENT - very important to feel that you're aiming just a bit left of your intended target. Do NOT have a closed stance.
